Actress Keira Knightley is on a roll when it comes to cover shoots. She pulled off the Tatler UK look fabulously well. Not so for Vogue magazine.

The Tatler look is polished in pink presenting Keira in all her prettiness, while the Vogue cover is drowning in cover lines and we’re definitely not sure about the hair. And we wanted Anna Wintour to do so well after such disappointing circulationâ€¦

The occasion was the Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC and the ladies were out in style.

Victoria Beckham has unleashed an avalanche of comments about her white lace dress/coat/frock for the occasion. It’s a definite love/love-not look.

We love Posh but must concede that Katie Holmes blew the competition out the water with her hot-orange strapless dress that hogged the limelight.

While we wouldn’t be seen dead strutting in trackie bottoms with the Adidas white-flash stripe down the side, Madonna makes it alright.

And the look no less tucked into boots! Okay, the tracksuit bottoms were given a glam sequin/shine makeover but still chavtastic.

The star used the look to bump and grind through her set during a secret show in New York to promote album Hard Candy.

It’s a tough one. Animal print is a distinctive look but is it a good one? We’re not so sure (blame Bett Lynch from soap Coronation Street) but the fashion pack can’t keep their paws off it.

Kate Moss oft shows her wild side in print, while Victoria Beckham swoops through airports dressed top-to-toe in designer print hot on the heels of Eva Longoria Parker who pulls on wild-child print boots to make her point.

All of the above are perhaps too polished. Whereas no one does it better than Alison Mosshart from The Kills strutting her tiger stuff on stage in animal print. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

Fashion verdict: Rough up the look a little if you want to survive in the jungle.
