Cape Town Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2009 (August 13 to 16) at Cape Town International Convention Centre unleashed a huge amounts of good look.
Stand-out talented South African designers and labels like Gavin Rajah, Rosenwerth, Hip Hop Clothing, Craig Port, Darkie, Stiaan Louw and Maya Prass showcased their stunning collections for S/S 09.

There’s a rising glam buzz about next month’s Amsterdam International Fashion Week (AIFW).
Kicking off 19 to 28 July 08, the event promises to be more than just the catwalk extravaganza.
According to the official side, it says ‘Alongside our catwalk show schedule our programme includes fashion events, lectures, exhibitions, retail initiatives and parties. As well as a showcase for Dutch fashion, AIFW provides a stage for the growing New Luxury segment, that so far was stuck between existing mainstream trade events and traditional couture weeks.

Armour, its design and exaggerated shapes was the fashion rocket fuel behind Mana Fatourechy’s imagination and inspiration for her superb collection showcased at Graduate Fashion Week, Earls Court, on Sunday night.
Mana, representing Winchester School Of Art, is still buzzing from the whole experience and her contribution to the catwalk show. ‘It was absolutely amazing – just wonderful seeing all our work up on the catwalk. The show went quite smoothly and, apart from a few minor glitches, it was fine!’

Caroline Roughley opened the show for the University of Westminster with stand-out designs in her circus-inspired work.
The standards set by the students has been incredibly high and Somerset College of Art & Technology, the University of Northampton and Winchester School of Art turned out impressive good looks.

Gujarat designers Shyamal and Bhumika Shodhan show off their prettiest fabrics…
Shyamal says “Gujarat has a rich history to draw inspiration from. Take for example monuments like Siddi Saiyed ni jaali, or why go that far, my family has been in this state for 200 years, many of my projects are based purely on the fabric and design repertoire of my family.
“Moreover, I have used Rambhadi art, Kutchi embroidery, block printing and other such regional arts in my collections over a period of time, which have won laurels at various instances.”
The Spice Girls hogged the front row at the Roberto Cavalli show in Milan. Their appearance was a welcome break in their world-tour schedule and a fashionable way to say thanks to Cavalli who has dressed their girls for their gig dates.
